SISI & FRANZ JOSEPH - DAS KAISERLICHE PAAR
Museum
Title picture: Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elisabeth, 1853/54, porcelain painting, museums of the Mobiliendepots, Vienna
Sisi spent a happy childhood at the side of her beloved father, and then, not even 15 years old, became empress of Austria. She experienced love at first sight which was unable to withstand the courtly demands between the Vienna Hofburg and the Schönbrunn Castle. Worlds, also between the father's zither-playing and the captivating music of the royal and imperial metropolis. Thus she went in search of her own life, found closeness to Heinrich Heine - and just like her father also sought conversation with the intellectual bourgeoisie - and the distance. Vienna was Johann Strauss, The Blue Danube, Kaiserwalzer, Tales from the Vienna Woods and his father's Radetzky March, Joseph Haydn's Emperor Quartet and others.
