Pictures of the title collage: Gianbattista Tiepolo, Prince-Bishop Carl Philipp of Greifenklau, 1750-53, fresco painting in the stairway of the baroque castle
With his festive, enthralling illusion-evoking painting, Tiepolo created one of the most impressive picture-cycles of the of the Occident. (In 1981 the residence was declared a world cultural heritage by the UNESCO.) Music and the fine arts on the other hand were still closely combined in the presentation of a common worldly understanding at the European courts.
