DER BLAUE REITER
Museum
Kunsthalle Bremen , 25.3. - 12.6.2000
"Der Blaue Reiter" (The Blue Rider) sought an intellectual renewal of the arts - music and painting. In the works of Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky this led to abstract forms and to an emphasis of
colour; in music to the Twelve-tone music of Arnold Schönberg. His "Pierrot Lunaire", Alban Berg's
sonata for piano op. I in B minor, Alexander Scriabin's "Satanic Poem" and Alexander von Zemlinsky's Lieder elucidate this radical development in the history of art and music.
